Senior Instructor Markus Raivio

Markus Raivio, a Finnish social entrepreneur and mental health professional, is transforming mental healthcare with strength-based approaches. In 2012, he co-founded Kukunori, uniting mental health associations to enhance well-being and reduce inequality. He developed the Guided Functional Peer Support (GFP) model, which fosters recovery through "Culture Houses" - spaces empowering clients transitioning from institutional care via peer learning based on strengths and interests. Implemented in 16 Culture Houses across Finland and Sweden, the model supports over 2,000 clients annually. In 2022, Markus was named Finland’s first Ashoka Fellow. A sought-after speaker, he advocates for social innovation, recovery-oriented care, and integrating arts and culture in mental health.
